The story behind the image

Vancouver in British Columbia has a rich maritime history. So, erecting their conference center Canada Place near the harbour was a good idea. But its architecture is truly awesome as it resembles a tall ship. The architects even added large sails to the roof top, underlining this uniqueness.

This photo shows the south-eastern front of the building. The dark clouds in the back create a nice contrast to the ‘sails’ on top of the building that were illuminated by the sun. Here’s another image that shows the fantastic skyline of the city on a clear day.
