The story behind the image
North of Antigonish in Nova Scotia you will find Cape George Lighthouse which guides ships around Cape George, the northern tip of the peninsula. It must be beautiful up there, enjoying nothing but the wide sea. However, when we reached the lighthouse, it was very cold for a morning in July – the thermometer of the car showed just 8° C. Brrr. Even worse: it the lighthouse was surrounded by thick fog. So, no stunning views for us.
Somewhat disappointed we countinued our drive towards Cape Breton Island and passed Ballantynes Cove. While the sun had not really come out, at least the fog was gone. So, I could capture the working port of the town. It certainly lacks the charms of a harbour that attracts tourists, but I wanted to also show the real Nova Scotia. For this purpose, the lack of bright sunshine was actually a very good fit. I think.
