The story behind the image
This shot shows the western facing side of the Colosseum, along the Via dei Fori Imperali. It’s a long shot with a tele lens (probably the FD 70-210 mm).
While I really disliked the heavy traffic when in Rome, I like the way my image gets this buzz across – there are countless cars and buses, and everyone is honking and driving wild. At least, that’s how we experienced in Rome in 2005.
I also like the warm colors of the late afternoon sun and the giant size of the Colosseum that simply dwarfs the people and cars.
