The story behind the image
Dublin’s party mile is the Temple Bar quarter, aptly named after The Temple Bar. When we visited Dublin in 2005, we also went to that pub. While some may call it a tourist trap, we massively enjoyed our stay.
After our visit, I shot this long exposure photo with my tiny Sony P&S, which did a good job. (The Temple Bar is the red pub in the photo.) At least I think so, especially considering that I had not yet upgraded my gear to all-digital. But as I had realized how powerful DLSRs had become by then, I would perform that overdue upgrade later that year.
I like the way the exposure time of 1/4 sec has blurred the people on the street. Others, in front of the pub, seem to be rock solid, though. An effect I have noticed in other photos as well. Some people just don’t move.
Whatever, Temple Bar – and Dublin – are definitely good places to be.
Sláinte!
