The story behind the image
This image shows the public beach in Laboe near my hometown Kiel in Germany. It is proof for the fact that summer vacations at the beach are well possible at the Baltic Sea. You don’t have to drive all the way down to Italy. But I admit that there is no guarantee at all that you will encounter such nice weather, not even for the months of July and August.
Anyway, I shot this image during a sailing trip with my father-in-law that also brought us to Laboe for a few days. The only thing that really puzzles me is the flag. It’s from the German state Lower Saxonia (or Niedersachsen in German), and I have no idea why it had been pulled up on that mast. After all, Laboe is in Schleswig-Holstein which is simply a different state. And that mast looks rather solid and not like something you would easily bring to the beach.
Weird.
