The story behind the image
Tuscany keeps on being a very popular destination for tourists from all over the world, and it’s easy to see why: Where else do you get so much culture, history, and unspoilt landscapes, on such a confined space? Heck, Tuscany even has beaches (on the Italian west coast)!
Siena is one of these stunning places. Best known for the Palio di Siena, a horse race where riders from each town quarter (or Contrada) compete against each other – on the Piazza del Campo right in the town center.
Apart from this, Siena is as Italian as it can get. You’ll get many small and narrow streets and historic houses, tasty wines and excellent food.
This shot shows the tower and main building of the Palazzo Pubblico (Mayor’s Office) in an extreme angle, omitting the Piazza del Campo with the omni-present tourists. Despite shot back in 2000, I still like it.
