The story behind the image

In Las Vegas you will either stay all day at the pool and all night at the casinos and shows, or you roam along The Strip. We did exactly this and realized that the city is not really attractive during the day (so we spent our second day in Vegas at the pool.)

But in the late afternoon this outset dramatically changes. As soon as the sun goes down and its light gets more saturated, the miracle happens. At least for us, it did happen. The super warm light of the setting sun illuminated the Aladdin Hotel which featured an orient theme and looked like the ‘real thing’.

But sadly, the hotel had been in financial trouble for a while and was sold in June 2003 to a joint venture of Planet Hollywood and Starwood. After a renovation, the resort began operating in 2007 under the name Planet Hollywood. Wikipedia has all the details.
