The story behind the image
From 1995 to 2001, an annual parade took place in Munich, Germany, called the Union Move. Initiated by Munich clubs, it featured electronic music played from large trucks with dancing people. At its peak, about 100,000 people joined the parade.
This photo from the 1999 parade underlines how friendly and tolerant the party had been. Everyone was accepted, just like this diverse person who showed off a really creative costume. I shot this image at the corner Ludwigstraße/Schellingstraße, right in front of the historic church St. Ludwig. What the priests may have thought about the wild crowd?
