The story behind the image
I grew up at the Baltic Sea in Germany, so it does not come as a big surprise that I am a big fan of maritime images. Here’s a shot from Kiel Week 1999 that shows the bow of the tall ship Mir as it approaches Falckenstein Lighthouse (in Kiel) after an excursion from the Baltic Sea. It was really like a mini-cruise. The weather was excellent and we could even set the sails for a while!
Please consider booking a trip on a tall ship during Kiel Week when you get a chance – you’re going to love it, even if it is just an afternoon.
