The story behind the image
Obernai in Alsace, France, is a pretty town with many attractive photo opportunities. Its small streets and historic buildings never fail to spark the imagination of how to capture this beauty.
I shot this photo, for example, from the stairs of the Église Saints-Pierre-et-Paul with my trusted Canon FD 70-210mm f/4 lens. The zoom shrinks the distance and enabled me to crop away the busy parking lot in the front. The position was high enough to get the lantern (on the left) below the colorful pennants. The few leafs of a palm tree covered the parking lot further and added a southern mood. The bright light of the morning sun caused a harsh contrast that adds depth to the image, especially for the houses on the right that stick out nicely in the image.
Lovely.
