The story behind the image
Here’s a stunning shot of the Plaza de la Constitucion in Mexico Cit, also known as Zócalo. Its key attraction is the giant national flag that has been erected in the center of the Plaza.
I shot this image from the rooftop patio of the La Terraza bar & restaurant (Av. Francisco I. Madero 73) which offers excellent food – and even better views across the Plaza.
There was a slight fog hanging over the city and the sky did not turn out as clear as I like it. The frontal sunlight from directly above the lens did not help either. However, the image captures the enormous size of the flag very well. Taking the people as a scale. I’d estimate the flag to be around 14 x 26 meters which is indeed monumental.
