The story behind the image
Further to my post earlier today that shows a festive lunch in the house of my grandparents, I found this photo showing just the living room of the house in Kiel-Wik, Germany. As the walls have not been covered with wallpapers, I believe this must have been shot before the “lunch photo”, most likely in 1941 or 1942.
So, there were at least four framed oil paintings decorating the walls. While these are not super rare artworks it shows that my grandparents (and especially my grandmother) had an interest in art and had begun to form a small collection. Interesting.
