The story behind the image
I’m not a big fan of photographing at the zoo, because there is a ceratin sadness to the captured animals. However, every now and then I’m tempted to pull out my phone and photograph a nice moment or scenery.
This image of a polar bear is part of a series of shots that show him prior, during, and after the (very short) nap. My position was perfect, and I love the total relaxation of the animal. Apparently he was quite tired and just needed that nap. I don’t like the concrete surroundings, but that’s what you get at the zoo. At least, the polar bear blends pretty well with the rest of the image.
