Luzern Skyline

Our last stop on this short trip to Switzerland is Luzern, the very old town located at the Vierwaldstätter See. With 57,000 inhabitants it is one of the larger cities in Switzerland.

Reuss Luzern

Another impression of Luzern: The river Reuss flows gently through the city...

...passing several nice restaurants providing stunning views! This, for example, is the patio of the small yet very good Hotel des Alpes.

Hof-Kirche Luzern

Finally, the Hof Kirche of Luzern. It was built 1633 to 1644 and is one of the most important Swiss Renaissance buildings.

Souvenirs from Switzerland

Ah, I could not resist to take this snapshot of some typical Swiss souvenirs: Cow Bells! This is the last photo for this trip, but there are plenty of other photos ready for you.

Zanzig's Hotel Tip
Hotel Restaurant Hofgarten
Stadthofstrasse 14
6006 Luzern
Phone +41(0)410 88 88
Fax +41(0)410 83 33

Being a top tourist destination, Luzern has a lot of hotels (more than 40), yet we were lucky to find this unique hotel with just 18 rooms in a historic house dating back to the 17th century. Next to the hotel you'll find the majestic Hofkirche church. While it is not directly located at the city center, it is still just a short walk to get to the lake, the attractions, the shops and the restaurants. However, you probably won't need a restaurant as the Hofgarten has its own excellent restaurant. They also offer a garage for your car. Our room #225 was modern, clean, and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Zanzig.com Rating: **** (very good)   What does that mean?
