Arbatax Trenino Verde Sardinia

Okay, there is not that much to tell about Arbatax. It has a nice working harbour, it is situated at the sea, but its biggest feature is a train: The "Trenino Verde" (Green Train) that ends (and starts) here in Arbatax.

The drivers of the "Trenino Verde" are a happy bunch, and they always have a friendly greeting for the photographers. :-)

Red Rocks Arbatax

Once you have arrived with the train in Arbatax, you will want to walk the way up to the "Capo Bellavista" where you have great views across the "Red Rocks" of Arbatax. The rocks have a hole that you can walk through.

The Red Rocks are a landmark of the town, but it is best known for the "Trenino Verde".

Trenino Verde Mandas-Arbatax

The train takes you to the mountains in the center of the island. It's a breathtaking ride in serpentines with many awesome views. Perfect stops are the village of Sadali or the Lago del Flumendosa. The entire route from Arbatax to Mandas is 159 kilometers and certainly a "must" for any train-lover.

There it goes for another exciting trip through the rough wilderness of the Sardic mountains.
